Visit to Costa Blanca October 25th – 30th October
What a splendid trip! We got to sing quite a lot in a variety of places from the hotel itself and the seafront in Albir to the church in Altea , with two formal charity concerts we gave locally. At our last one we discovered a number of ex-pats had formed a men’s choir and it gave us great pleasure to be able to invite a number of them to join us in a couple of pieces. Everywhere we were made very welcome . As a choir I think we gelled pretty well considering that we represented just over a third of the full choir. I don’t think we let LOMVC down! Of course, there had to be one or two minor glitches! In spite of Martin’s best efforts, we had an interesting journey trying to find the local church in Altea. Perhaps our driver’s Satnav wasn’t up to it! We learned to live with “Spanish Time”: on the Friday of our departure we should have left at 9.15 and were a little dismayed to see a lorry drive up at 9.30 pulling a trailer full of bicycles! We left at 9.55 on a coach, to our great relief! One or two of our number seemed to have difficulty distinguishing Coach No. 1 from Coach No.2, causing our coach marshalls to think they had lost people from time to time! However, to sum up, it was a marvellous trip with a wonderful atmosphere within the choir. Who could ask for more?
