The Orpheans Newsletter - December 2008
Hello Barry [or should I say G'day?], hope this message finds you well. I believe you went along to a recent concert of the Ladies choir and Megan told me you said 'hello'. She has certainly enjoyed her involvement with the choir and it has given her a useful interest away from the stresses of her job. I'm looking forward to listening to them in person. Here in Melbourne I've been lucky enough to keep up with a little bit of singing by attending practice nights with the Melbourne Welsh Choir, but unfortunately haven't been able too for the last few months as they have been 'on tour' in the UK. They were taking part in a combined Welsh choir’s concert at the Royal Albert Hall, and combined that concert with other appearances in the UK while they were over there. After the concerts many of the choir members took the opportunity to do some touring [as you would, I guess if you've gone all that way] Anyway, as a result the choir has only just got back to it's full strength of about 75 members. I do enjoy going along to practice, and they have certainly been very friendly and helpful to their 'blow-in', half Pom! How did the Leigh Orpheus tour of Tuscany go? I would have loved to have gone on that as it's one of my favourite parts of the world. Apart from Megan, who I do miss very much, of course, I've missed the camaraderie of the Bass A Message from Down Under

section and the rest of the Leigh choir and am looking forward to catching up with you all in the New Year when I get back. I've enjoyed the time here with friends and family and the chance to get to know and watch my grandchildren start to grow up, but the time frame has been too long and I'm now counting the days before I get back. Please pass on my regards and best wishes to everybody in the Choir for the coming festive season and the New Year and I hope preparations for the big concert with Aled Jones are going well. Regards to you yours, see you in January,
Jim Ryan
